Anatomy of a tote

A standard IBC is a blow-molded HDPE bottle inside a galvanized steel cage, on a pallet sized for a 48″ × 40″ footprint. It has a screw-cap opening on top and a valve at the bottom for draining.
03 — Why reuse
A reused tote is one that didn't have to be made.
Reusing a tote avoids making a new bottle, cage, and pallet. When a tote is suitable for your product, a reconditioned or washed unit is a practical choice, and tote bottles that can't be reused can often be recycled.

A quote is only as good as the details behind it. The difference between a washed tote and a reconditioned, retested tote matters for what you can put in it, so it helps to give the supplier the full picture up front.
If you are buying
- Size (275 or 330 gallon) and how many you need.
- The grade you want, or what you will store so the supplier can suggest one.
- Any fittings you need, such as a valve type or a vented lid.
- Your delivery ZIP code and whether you can unload with a forklift.
If you are selling
- How many totes, their size, and their general condition.
- What each tote held before. Many suppliers need the safety data sheet.
- Whether the totes are empty and drained, and whether caps and valves are in place.
- The pickup ZIP code and loading access.
If you are recycling
- How many totes, and why they can't be reused (damaged bottle, bent cage).
- What they held. Totes that held hazardous materials may need special handling.

IBC Recycle USA doesn't own a yard, a wash line, or trucks. It connects people who need IBC totes, or have totes to sell or recycle, with partner suppliers in our network. The supplier that quotes your request sets the price, terms, and delivery, and you deal with them directly if you go ahead.

Frequently asked questions
What does IBC Recycle USA do? It is a referral service. You send a request to buy, sell, or recycle IBC totes, and it goes to partner suppliers in our network. A partner supplier follows up with pricing and availability.
What sizes of IBC totes can I request? Mostly 275 and 330 gallon caged plastic totes, in new, reconditioned, or washed grades, plus caged metal totes. Partner suppliers tell you what they have in stock.
Can I sell empty IBC totes? Yes, you can request an offer. Send the count, the size, what the totes held, and the pickup ZIP code. A partner supplier that can reuse them makes an offer and arranges pickup.
Is a reconditioned tote as good as a new one? For many non-hazardous uses, a cleaned and tested reconditioned tote works well. Some products, especially food, pharmaceutical, or regulated hazardous materials, call for new bottles or specific testing. Tell the supplier what you will store.
